Ringing the changes at intu Uxbridge

Formerly known as The Chimes, the intu Uxbridge Shopping Centre in North West London opened in 2001 and houses many familiar high street names. Thanks to its proximity to Uxbridge tube station, it's very easy to find.

Take to the Skies in Uxbridge

If you're a history fan, no visit to Uxbridge would be complete without taking a trip to the Battle of Britain Bunker, the only original RAF Fighter Group Operations Room now open to the public. It's buried some 60ft underground and can be reached by a flight of 76 steps. Its rooms are on two levels, and of most interest is the plotting room with its map table, weather reports and squadron display boards - which still look exactly as they did when Winston Churchill visited in 1940.

Uxbridge's rural idyll

Those looking for a more rural adventure while in Uxbridge can take the Hillingdon Trail, a 20-mile path through the area's countryside from Cranford in the south east to Harefield in the north west, stopping off along the way to admire the local woods, fields, meadows, nature reserves and sites of special scientific interest.
