A royal resident in Cheshunt

Cheshunt is famous for being the hometown of Cliff Richard, but the busy town was once home to another well-known name - Queen Elizabeth I. The centre of the town has retained many of its old buildings, including the stunning 16th-century St Mary's Church. Today, Cheshunt's historic centre has been modernised, and the town is a hive of activity thanks to its bustling high street and shopping centre.

A breath of fresh air at River Lee Country Park

Stretching from Essex to Hertfordshire, this impressive 1,000 acre park is the ideal place to spend an afternoon with the family. Pack a picnic and find a spot next to the lake, or grab your trainers and enjoy a hike along one of the park's trails. For the more adventurous, River Lee is also great for watersports. The Lee Valley White Water Centre offers water rapid rafting, and you can hire canoes at Broxbourne Old Mill.

Go wild at Paradise Wildlife Park

You'll find a huge range of animals to meet at Paradise Wildlife Park in Nearby Broxbourne. Watch the big cats play, cuddle the farmyard animals and meet some very slippery characters at the Reptile Temple.
