A country house with a rock & roll pedigree

While Knebworth House in Hertfordshire is best known for its many open-air concerts featuring the likes of Led Zepplin, Oasis and Pink Floyd, there's more to this grand building and park than that. When it's not hosting rock royalty, it's a glorious place to look around, and features some nice touches throughout the grounds - including an adventure playground and a Dinosaur Trail.

Take in a round of golf

Just the other side of the A1(M) to Knebworth House is Knebworth Golf Club, one of the most popular courses in Hertfordshire. The attractive and well established parkland course was designed by the famous course architect Willie Park Jr in 1908, and while some changes have occurred since then it retains its original spirit.

Enjoy a day out in Stevenage

The town of Stevenage is just three miles north of Knebworth House, and has plenty to do during the day - including the Stevenage Museum and Fairlands Valley Park - as well as a vibrant night life. Planning a trip to Knebworth House? Travelodge Hatfield Central Hotel is closest, just over 10 miles south on the M1, while Travelodge Cambridge Leisure Park Hotel is convenient for those heading from the east.
