Cumbria hotels

Playing host to every mountain in England. Home to sixteen large lakes. Historical sites going back nearly 2000 years. Cumbria pushes the limits of what rural England has to offer. No-one can argue the fact that the Lake District is one of the most beautiful places ever, not even your normally non-committal teenager. And climbing Scafell Pike, England's highest peak, isn't your everyday challenge. Stay in one of our hotels in Cumbria and you're in the best place to marvel at scenic delights and conquer nature's biggest obstacles.

Book hotels in Cumbria

Book a hotel in Cumbria, drop your bags and start exploring the Lake District. We suggest heading to Lake Windermere first. Not only is it a stunning location, you can enquire about all the walking routes, water sports and children's activities at the nearby Brockhole Visitor Centre. Our Kendal Hotel is a 25-minute drive away, so leave early and give yourself plenty of time for an epic adventure. If you want a real challenge, England's highest mountain Scafell Pike awaits you. The route from Wasdale is the shortest and most direct, but by no means easy. The starting point is 28 miles from our Cockermouth Hotel so maybe start there? Keep your fingers crossed for clear weather. The views from the summit are breathtaking.

Things to do in Cumbria

Along with its spectacular landscape, Cumbria has a rich history. Hadrian's Wall, an UNESCO heritage site was built by the Romans in 122AD. It's one of the most visited destinations in Northern England and with good reason. Walk the National Trail and follow the wall for a Roman experience. Our Gateshead Hotel is 29.4 miles away. Next, visit Carlisle Castle. It's had an interesting past too. It's where Mary Queen of Scots was held captive. Your challenge: Decipher the prisoner's carvings in the castle keep. When you're done, head back to our Carlisle Central Hotel, as it's just a mile away.
