Borough Market: Heaven for foodies

There's been a market at this spot in Southwark for more than 1,000 years. Located just south of London Bridge, it's a vibrant location full of fresh produce from around the world - a foodie's paradise consisting of more than 100 stalls selling fish, meats, vegetables, cheese, bread, cakes and much, much more. The stall holders are knowledgeable, so feel free to ask them questions about their produce.

Praise be for Southwark Cathedral

Southwark boasts the oldest cathedral in the capital - Roman pagans worshipped on this spot long before the rise of Christianity. The current building dates back to 1106, but has undergone reconstruction many times since. Regular tours lasting 45 minutes are available on Fridays and Mondays, and reveal much about this spectacular place's architecture and enthralling history.

Keep up with the trends at the Fashion & Textiles Museum

Flamboyant designer Zandra Rhodes is the driving force behind the Fashion and Textile Museum; she founded it as a way to give back to the industry that helped make her name. It's now a valuable resource not only for the public, but also to fashion students and is located on Bermondsey Street, a 15-minute walk from Borough Market.
