London's biggest sights - a stroll from Charing Cross station

London Charing Cross station is right in the heart of England's bustling capital. A 5-minute stroll brings you to Trafalgar Square, towered over by Nelson's Column and fringed by two world famous art institutions: The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. Five minutes south of Charing Cross, the famous Big Ben keeps watch over Parliament Square, where you'll find the sumptuous Gothic Revival Palace of Westminster and the thousand-year-old elegance of Westminster Abbey.

Discover the heart of hip east London

Hop on the Northern Line from Charing Cross and you can be in London's epicentre of cool in less than half an hour. Exit at Old Street and head for Shoreditch, home to the renowned Brick Lane. Browse the vintage stalls and music shops before filling up on a tasty bagel. Or head 10 minute's walk north to Hoxton, home to busting Vietnamese restaurants and cafes. For late night fun, XOYO, off Old Street, plays host to famous DJs until late.

Get lost in Hampstead Heath

Only 30 minutes on the tube from Charing Cross brings you to the vast green expanses of Hampstead Heath. Climb up to one of the highest points in London for commanding views out over the city, or take a dip in the ponds to cool off on a hot summer's day.
