Make an impression at Somerset House

Built overlooking the River Thames on The Strand in central London is Somerset House, an imposing neoclassical building which is now best known as the home of the Courtauld Institute of Art. The Courtauld Gallery is open to the public and has one of the country's most important collections of Old Masters and impressionist paintings. It also holds a variety of temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Somerset House also has an ice rink in winter and can be hired for events.

Spy on the London Film Museum

A short walk from Somerset House is the London Film Museum in Covent Garden. James Bond fans will be enthralled by its Bond in Motion exhibition, which hosts more than 100 vehicles and artefacts to have featured in the ever-popular film franchise, including 007's own Aston Martin DB5.

Travel back in time at the London Transport Museum

Across Covent Garden, and another short stroll from Somerset House, is the London Transport Museum - which features exhibits charting the capital's public transport history, including its buses, trams and, of course, iconic Tube trains.
