5) If you’ve spent the last few months locked up inside, now’s the time for some fresh air. A walk along the Cliffs of Moher will show you the most dramatic scenery, while The Kerry Way is most popular with Irish walkers.

6) Music-lovers will be in heaven in Ireland this summer, as the festival line-up looks top notch. From Sea Sessions, which promises the best surfing, skating and music, to Forbidden Fruit, which boasts Kasabian and Primal Scream as headliners, Ireland’s the place to be for the true festival fan.

7) The first weekend in June is the time to be in Dublin if you’re a gardening fan, as Phoenix Park gets taken over by the biggest garden show in Ireland for five whole days. But it’s not only for those with green fingers – the show celebrates wholesome, homemade food and drink too, so you can bet you’ll find the best Irish grub here.

8) The Lakes of Killarney are one of Ireland’s favourite tourist destinations, but it’s not only their beauty that makes them worth a trip. The surrounding National Park is full of sites of historical and religious significance, like Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey, as well as the oldest known copper mines in the British Isles. There’s no time like the present to learn a bit more about the fascinating past of Ireland.
