New Report by Travelodge Unveils 2025 Travel Trends and The Great British Staycation Tops the List as the Nations’ Top Holiday Hotspot
Today Travelodge, the UK’s first budget hotel chain, has released its latest Travel Trends Report which delves into the upcoming travel plans for 2025, as voted for by the nation.
The release of Travelodge’s 2025 Travel Trend Report, which was commissioned by the hotel chain and surveyed 2,000 British adults, reveals that over three quarters of the nation will be travelling this year with the majority looking to take their main holiday in June which will consist, on average, of ten days.
Interestingly, a third of those polled are opting to holiday on British shores to help maximise their budget, whilst half of respondents revealed that a ‘staycation’ will be their holiday of choice given how many great places there are in the UK to visit. Over two fifths also admitted that it will be easier to holiday on home shores next year given how much more cost effective this can be and eliminates the stress of travelling overseas.
The Report revealed that Brits are looking to cast aside the doom and gloom of the past 12 months with over a quarter planning to spend more money on travelling in 2025 in comparison to 2024, spending on average £1,449 on their main holiday of the year.
Over a quarter admitted that a holiday was one of the few things that they refused to cut back on, with a fifth stating that their 2025 holiday will be the break they desperately need.
As more Brits are looking to explore a UK getaway, the Report delved deeper into the key factors behind the nation’s ‘staycation’ travelling decisions.
Location was voted as the most important factor with just over two thirds of travellers polled stating that destination was key when planning a getaway and over two fifths of respondents admitted that ease of getting to their destination helped them on deciding where to go in 2025, as was visiting new places.
Two thirds said value for money was an essential consideration when planning their trips for 2025, with over half stating that they book well in advance to secure the best rates and over a quarter revealed that they will book a reliable budget hotel to ensure they can maximise their 2025 travel funds.
Interestingly, over half of respondents stated that this year they would be willing to part with more money for sustainable and responsible travel choices and over a third stated that they would also consider using an AI tool to help them get the most out of their travel plans and budget in 2025.
A good night’s sleep is also a crucial component as over a third of respondents voted that this was non-negotiable when it came to choosing holiday accommodation as was knowing what to expect on arrival at their chosen property.
And over a third stated that a hotel chain would be their preferred accommodation choice in 2025.
In addition, Brits, on average, will be taking an additional three leisure trips next year, with over two thirds stating that they will be planning their time away around an event or life occasion such as visiting family and friends, going to a music or sporting event or attending a social event like a wedding, festival or party.
