Today, local celebrity Dennis The Menace officially opened the new Dundee Central Travelodge at West Marketgait, Dundee, DD1 1NL. The grade two listed Scottish Heritage Building has been converted to a 48-bedroom hotel at at an investment cost of £2.5 million.

The new hotel has created 15 new jobs in the area and will be managed by Roy Mead who has lived in Dundee for over 18 years. Aged 50, Roy started working as a part-time Receptionist at Dundee Kingsway Travelodge and over the last couple of years has worked his way up the career ladder, to now managing his own brand new hotel in a prominent city centre location.

Room rates at Dundee Central Travelodge will start from £26 and there is a choice of rooms: double, family and disabled. Each offering a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom, luxury king size bed, colour TV, pay on demand movies, telephone, Internet service and free tea and coffee making facilities.

A "Grab & Go" food service will be available, offering guests a range of hot and cold snacks and drinks 24 hours a day. Customers can purchase their food at reception and then take the option to either eat at the hotel or take it away with them.
