Today, Norwich city centre Travelodge made history as part of Travelodge's UK record of opening eight new hotels throughout the country in one day.

The £4 million hotel has 104-bedrooms and has created 40 new jobs within the region. It is located at Queens Road and is the second Travelodge hotel to open in Norwich.

Room rates at Norwich city centre Travelodge start from £26 per night. You only pay for the room and not for the number of guests staying. There is a choice of rooms, which includes family, double and disabled. Each room offers a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom, luxury king-size bed, colour TV which offers pay on demand movies, telephone and Internet services and free tea and coffee making facilities.

The hotel has a Bar Café which offers breakfast and evening meals with bar service until 1.00am.

Liam Swift, Norwich Central Travelodge Hotel Manager said: "We have seen tremendous growth for budget accommodation within the Norwich area over the last 12 months. Our city centre location is ideally located for visiting business and leisure travellers. Local residents can also benefit by putting up family and friends at the hotel and avoid the hassle at home. Perfect for the forthcoming Christmas holidays. We offer a comfortable room from as little as £26, which is the smart choice for any type of stopover."

The other Travelodge hotels to open today include: Manchester Airport, London City Airport, Aberdeen Airport, Nottingham, Bury, St Austell and Pembroke Dock which results in a total investment of £26 million, 734 new rooms and a creation of 220 jobs.

Notes to Editor:

This will include a hundred thousand £10 rooms, 500,000 £26 rooms and price cuts on thousands of standard room rates. Both Nottingham Travelodge hotels (City Centre and Cringleford) will benefit from this new pricing strategy, which will help drive more business into the region.

Travelodge has 288 hotels throughout the UK, located in most major city centres. Over six million stay with Travelodge every year.
