2nd December 2005

Today, Pembroke Dock Travelodge made history as part of Travelodge's UK record of opening eight new hotels throughout the UK in one day. The Lord Mayor officially opened Pembroke Docks first budget hotel.

The £2 million hotel, has 51-bedrooms and has created 15 new jobs within the area. It is located at Pier Road, West Llanion Industrial Estate. An open day was held at the hotel for local residents to view the hotel and enjoy a glass of champagne.

The hotel was developed using a new construction method called Modular Construction, where the bedrooms were created in a factory in Newport. The bedrooms were then delivered to site and lowered in through the roof. Local slate was also used to roof the hotel. This method dramatically reduced production costs and development time from 28 weeks to just 18 weeks.

Room rates at Pembroke Dock Travelodge will start from £26 per night. You only pay for the room and not for the number of guests staying. There is a choice of rooms, which includes family, double and disabled. Each room offers a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom, luxury king-size bed, colour TV which offers pay on demand movies, telephone and Internet services and free tea and coffee making facilities.

A "Grab & Go" food service will be available offering a range of hot & cold snacks and drinks 24 hours a day. Guests can purchase their food at reception and then take the option to either eat at the hotel or take it away with them.

Jason Hiley, Pembroke Dock Travelodge Hotel Manager said: "There is tremendous growth opportunity for budget accommodation at Pembroke Dock. We are the first branded budget hotel operator to open in the area. Our £26 room rate will ensure visiting travellers to the area receive a high quality, lost cost, stopover solution. Local residents can also benefit by putting up family and friends at the hotel and avoid the additional stress at home. Perfect for the forthcoming Christmas holidays. We are the smart choice for any type of stop-over."

Pembroke Dock Lord Mayor, Councillor Ron Watts said: "I am delighted Travelodge have opened the first budget hotel in Pembroke Dock, this new opening has not just created jobs within the community it has brought a much needed service to the town.
