Travelodge, the UK's number one budget hotel brand, today opened its 270th hotel in Ashton-under-Lyne at Lapwing Lane, Audenshaw. The £2 million, 62-bedroom hotel is the third new hotel to be opened in the Greater Manchester region this year following successful openings at Manchester Ancoats and Sportscity.

The hotel has created 15 new positions. Half of the new team have turned out to be next-door neighbours. The team will report to Hotel Manager Rachael Sykes who is the youngest Travelodge Hotel Manager. Rachel joined Travelodge 5 years ago and has worked at several Travelodge hotels within the Greater Manager region. Her career path has taken her from Receptionist to now managing her own brand new hotel.

Room rates at Ashton-Under-Lyne Travelodge start from just £26 per night. There is a choice of either a double, family or disabled room, each offering a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom, luxury king size bed, colour TV with in room entertainment which offers pay on demand movies, telephone and Internet services and free tea and coffee making facilities. Free on site car parking is also provided for guests.

A breakfast on the go service will be available to guests, the breakfast bag costs £4.00 and contains a selection of breakfast goodies. It can be delivered to the guests door between 5am to 7am or purchased from reception 24 hours.

Rachael Sykes, Ashton-under-Lyne Travelodge Hotel Manager said: "We are very excited to bring the first low-cost hotel to the heart of Ashton-Under-Lyne. Travelodge is always the smart choice whether staying for business, leisure or when you have family and friends visiting. Our room rates start from just £26, which makes it fantastic value in comparison to some of the extortionate prices other local branded hotels are charging within Greater Manchester".

"I have a fantastic team in place, I was totally stunned to find out that most of them are neighbours and they already knew each other before starting work at the hotel. We are looking forward to a busy time ahead".

Travelodge has recently launched a revolutionary search tool facility on its website www.travelodge.co.uk which provides clarity on identifying all available rooms within the UK at the low-cost rate of £26 (£46 in Central London). This new search service will allow customers to find all Travelodge hotels that have a £26 / £46 room rate at a glance; and if their preferred hotel is not available at this particular rate at the time they would like to travel, up to twenty nearest hotel options will be provided at the same rate.

Over the next six years Travelodge is planning to open 15,000 new rooms and create over 4,500 new jobs. In 2005 Travelodge is opening a new hotel every ten days and has the biggest expansion programme in place within the UK budget hotel sector. Travelodge has also completed a £20 million refurbishment for all of its hotels within the UK.
