No trip to Aston is complete without a pint at The Bhurtpore Inn, an award-winning family-owned traditional village pub with an extensive menu, based on locally sourced produce. Cool off on a hot day with a dip in Nearby Nantwich's Outdoor Brine Pool (open May to October) - believed to be the only inland brine pool left in Britain, and the largest swimming pool in the area.

Step back in time

Discover the secret world of nuclear government at the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, hidden for over 50 years on the outskirts of town. Previously classified, you can see the government's preparations for nuclear war and step into the lives of those who worked there; with tons of authentic equipment in original settings, get an exciting glimpse into England's Cold War past. Get up to date on local history at the Nantwich Museum; free to enter, its main galleries tell the story of Nantwich through ages, from Roman salt making through to the more recent shoe and clothing industries. St Mary's Church in the centre of Nantwich is well worth a visit; beautiful architecture inside and out, it's also set in beautiful gardens, perfect for a picnic on a sunny day.

Animal attractions

A short drive away is the Reaseheath Mini Zoo. Situated in the grounds of the Main Campus at Reaseheath College, enjoy getting up close to many different species of animals, including birds of prey, reptiles and small mammals.
