An idyllic village in the heart of the Cotswolds

Medieval Burford was named one of the most perfect places to live in Europe, according to Forbes magazine - and we can see why. With sloping cottages and Tudor buildings lining the streets, you'll feel like you've stepped into a fairy tale. Browse the quirky, independent shops of the high street, and don't forget to stop off at one or two of the cosy tea shops tucked away in the side streets for a piece of cake. Go on - we won't judge if you have an extra slice.

Go wild at Cotswold Wildlife Park

From penguin feeding to farmyard fun, there's plenty to do at this family-friendly wildlife park. Less than five minutes down the road from Burford, the Cotswold Wildlife Park is home to a range of animals, and even has its own Madagascar exhibit. While you're there, take a trip on the narrow-gauge railway for a tour of the park, pet the animals at the children's farmyard, and test your nerves on the 20ft high Skymaze.

Ticking since 1865...

In Burford Church, the town has a local institution founded in 1175 and a fascinating historical relic. Don't miss the Turet Clock, one of the oldest mechanical clocks in Britain, still in use 332 years after it first ticked. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Burford?
