Things to do Near Holloway

The attractive village of Holloway is just four miles south east of Matlock, making it the perfect base from which to explore the best of the Peak District and Derbyshire.

Explore the great outdoors

Discover the Heights of Abraham, a unique hilltop park reached by a cable car ride over the Derwent Valley. Once there, enjoy heritage walks along the woodland paths, let the kids run wild in the two adventure play areas, and take a guided tour through the two famous show caverns. For a fun day out, visit Matlock's Hall Leys Park; with its bowling greens, tennis courts, and miniature railway, there's plenty for all the family to see and do.

Step back in history

Climb aboard a Peak Rail steam or heritage diesel train, travelling from Matlock to Rowsley, or spend a day at Crich Tramway Village, with its period village scene, indoor tram exhibitions and vintage tram rides. A half hour drive will get you to the historic Chatsworth House; explore over 30 rooms from the magnificent Painted Hall to the Sculpture gallery, and admire its extensive art collections, stroll around its 105-acre gardens with a maze, water features and sculptures, or let the kids burn off some energy in its working farmyard and woodland playground.
