Stunning countryside on your doorstep in Crowborough

Crowborough is a town in East Sussex that is nestled in the heart of the beautiful High Weald Area of Natural Beauty. With easy access to the area's lovely scenery, beautiful stately homes and outdoor activities, it is also convenient for both London and the south coast. Famed author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived in Crowborough - look out for his statue along with his influence on local street names. Crowborough Leisure Centre has a good pool and cafe, and golfers are well catered for with the highly regarded Crowborough Beacon Golf Club.

Shin up a sheer rock face at Bowles

Just five minutes' drive away is Bowles Outdoor Centre where you can have a go at climbing the natural sandstone outcrop. For wonderful walks, head to Ashdown Forest Centre which has lots of routes to choose from. The National Trust run Scotney Castle and Standen House and Garden are both well worth a visit. Or try Groombridge Place Estates where you can have a go on the treetops walkway and admire the animal collection. Seek out the Nearby Crown Inn afterwards for a pint and some food.

Laid back shopping in Royal Tunbridge Wells

This jewel of a town in Kent is only 15 minutes' drive away and is lovely to explore with great shopping.
