Ayrshire hotels

Ayrshire sits on the stunning southwest coast of Scotland, neatly on the shores of Firth of Clyde. Even if you were to spend all your days exploring the ragged coastline, you'd always be finding new surprises. But it has much more to offer than scenery, although that is a huge draw. Bring your kids and stay in one of our hotels in Ayrshire for an adventure weekend of stargazing and stone skimming, history lessons (the fun kind) and haggis (if they can stomach it). This is rural Scotland at its best.

Book hotels in Aryshire

Book a hotel in Ayrshire for a chance to visit the birthplace of poet Robert Burns. The exhibit is very hands-on, so no one under two is allowed to get bored. Random Instagram Moment: Don't miss the garden and its two-metre high statue of a rat. Start your day here, as it's less than five miles from our Ayr Hotel, and then head north to Dundonald Castle. Stand on a hill that has been occupied since 500BC, and this will be one history lesson your kids will actually listen to (and love). Time it right and you'll visit during the Dundonald Games, a day of traditional activities like highland dancing and battle re-enactments. History like this can be exhausting, but it's only 6.5 miles back to our Kilmarnock Hotel thankfully.

Things to do in Ayrshire

For something special, visit the Galloway Forest Park. It's 46.3 miles from our Ayr Hotel, but if you have good weather, it's worth it. Random Amazing Fact: It's the only place in the UK to have Dark Sky Park status. Translation: On a clear day, expect to see the shooting stars and the Milky Way. If you're thinking of a chocolate bar right now, let's agree that astronomy's not for you and maybe visit Eglinton Country Park instead. It's home to the Earl of Eglinton and Winton and it's known for its open spaces and castle ruins. It's only 9.6 miles from our Kilmarnock Hotel.
