Picture-perfect Alford

Alford is a Lincolnshire town which has the only remaining thatched church in the county. Its charm doesn't end there, as it's situated on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From various points it boasts views of most of the larger structures in the north and east of the county such as the Humber Bridge and Lincoln Cathedral. The town is 11 miles from the holiday resort of Skegness and only four miles away from Markby.

Wander through a charming village

The thatched manor house has a museum to the rear with exhibits from a time when Alford was a thriving Victorian market town. Its five-sailed working windmill is a Grade I listed tower mill. While you're exploring the town head to Tiger Lilly - an unusual shop which specialises in dolls houses and extremely tiny furnishings.

The structures of Alford

History buffs can enjoy the architecture of the town - among the many buildings and structures is the war memorial to the front of the grounds of St. Wilfred's parish church in the town's centre.
