Past and present collide at the University of Lincoln

Located in one of the UK's most historic cities, the University of Lincoln has gone from strength to strength since it was officially awarded the status in 1992. The main campus and its array of incredible 21st century facilities sit at the heart of an impressive regeneration project which has been invested in the area around Brayford Pool and breathed new life into the city as a whole.

Head up the hill for a history lesson

While you're in Lincoln you simply have to brace yourself for a walk up the accurately-named Steep Hill to explore both its famous 11th century castle and the stunning cathedral which towers above the city. Once thought to be one of the tallest buildings in the world, the cathedral is also famous for a range of features including a stone carving of an imp which has become the stuff of local legend.

A host of top bands play at the university's Engine Shed venue, while art lovers will enjoy exploring the Usher Gallery and its range of paintings and drawings including works by the likes of Lowry, Turner and DeWint.
