Have a Wicked time at Apollo Victoria Theatre

This 1929-built art deco theatre in London's Pimlico is next door to Victoria Station and at the heart of the city centre. Originally a cinema, the Apollo Victoria has been home to some of the capital's best loved shows including Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Starlight Express which played here for 18 years. Since 2006 it has been showing the hit musical Wicked, which tells the back story of the witches from The Wizard of Oz and has been delighting audiences and critics with its toe-tapping songs, winning lots of awards including an Evening Standard Theatre Award and three Tonys from its spell on Broadway.

Shops, parks, Parliament - what to do and see in central London

So many of London's best known attractions are within walking distance that it's hard to list them all, but within half an hour's walk you'll find yourself at the famous green awnings of Harrods, before taking in posh Knightsbridge and then enjoying a relaxing stroll in St James' Park where you'll be able to see whether the Queen's at home in Buckingham Palace. Or head towards the river to Tate Britain, where you can gaze upon many home-grown masterpieces including Millais's Ophelia. Entry is free.
