Explore all north London has to offer

Make Hendon your base for exploring the northern half of the capital. This quiet suburban town is half an hour from central London, but bustling East Barnet and Wembley are merely a stone's throw away. Hendon itself has a busy high street with plenty of character - and lots of reasonably-priced places to eat. Visit Bagels Bar for a unique twist on the bakery classic, or head over to White Fish for good old-fashioned fish and chips. The exquisite Mr Baker bakery is also well worth a visit.

Fly high at the Royal Airforce Museum

Nearby Colindale is home to the Royal Airforce Museum. Based in the old Hendon Aerodrome, the museum has a fantastic collection of aircraft, from the hot air balloon to First World War bombers and modern-day fighter jets. Don't forget to visit the 4D cinema, where you'll experience a breathtaking recreation of the Battle of Britain. Kids will love the interactive Aeronauts exhibition, with plenty of games to help them learn all about flight.

Be a VIP at Wembley Stadium

With Wembley on your doorstep, there's no excuse not to visit the home of the England football team. Retrace the steps of football legends with a tour of the stadium, taking you through the players' tunnel, onto the pitch itself, and even into the changing rooms and Royal Box. Looking for accommodation in Hendon? Travelodge London Finchley and Travelodge London Cricklewood hotels are each less than 15 minutes away.
