Kenwood House - Hampstead Heath's crowning glory

The former stately home of Kenwood House in Hampstead lies on the northern edge of Hampstead Heath, amidst some of London's most wonderful landscaped grounds. The house and gardens are so attractive it's hardly surprising they've been used in numerous films, with movies shot there including Sense and Sensibility and Notting Hill.

Nature lovers will be surprised at the amount of wildlife, from grass snakes and deer to terrapins and ring-necked parakeets; it's a great place for a walk, run or cycle, and if the weather is favourable then the lido and ponds are worth a dip.

There really is no end to what London has to offer, and if you're visiting the area, it makes sense to make the most of your proximity to the capital. London Zoo is highly recommended, in Nearby Regent's Park, while Madame Tussauds and the British Museum are also within relatively easy reach.
