A dark past at West Middlesex Hospital

Opened as a hospital in 1935, West Middlesex Hospital holds a lot of history dating back to 1894 when it opened as a workhouse where the poor, disabled and orphaned children lived while working to earn their bed and board.

Set in the London Borough of Hounslow, the hospital sits on the edge of Syon Park - a 200-acre historical green space that is home to Syon House - a residence of the Duke of Northumberland.
