Spectacular Caribbean colours and sounds at Notting Hill Carnival

Taking place over three days at the end of August, Notting Hill Carnival is Europe's biggest street festival and is attended by millions. The carnival has been going for more than 50 years and is a riot of colour and Caribbean beats, with floats and performers lighting up the streets with dazzling costumes. There's a family day when kids show off their outfits, a free evening of Caribbean music plus the grand finale featuring multiple music and dance acts.

Exploring Notting Hill

Made famous by the Richard Curtis film starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, Notting Hill is one of London's most attractive areas. Fans of the film can even take part in a walking tour where you'll see where much of it was shot. Don't miss the famous Portobello Market, especially when it's antiques day on Saturday; catch a film in the fabulously comfortable Electric Cinema, with armchairs and a bar, or head to Gate Theatre for the latest cutting-edge show. Have a drink and a bite to eat while admiring the interior of The Churchill Arms or have a mouth-watering cake at The Hummingbird Bakery.

At Notting Hill you're within easy reach of many central London attractions.
