A contemporary showcase at the Saatchi Gallery

Although the Saatchi Gallery has moved around the capital since its formation in 1985, it settled into its current premises on Kings Road Chelsea in 2005 and after 12 years shows no sign of moving.

The contemporary showcase is owned by Iraqi-British businessman Charles Saatchi, who spent his vast earnings as an advertising mogul on pieces of art and then sought a place to show his collection to the world.

See young artists works

Largely unseen young artists are often launched from the Saatchi Gallery, as it aims to support an ever-changing contemporary arts scene. Charles Saatchi is also very supportive of Young British Artists, and has championed the careers of Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.

Whether it's Emin's unmade bed or Hirst suspending dead animals in formaldehyde, the gallery's exhibitions are often controversial, spark conversation and push the boundaries of what people would commonly think of as pieces of art.

Window shopping on Sloane Street

Nearby you'll find the exclusive boutiques of Sloane Street and while they don't suit everyone's budget, it's nice to get a glimpse of some of the leading designer fashions. Alternatively, head to Sloane Square and be bedazzled by the diamond engagement rings in Tiffany's window,
