A day out at Bolton Priory

The small village of Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales is famed for Bolton Priory - the ancient ruins of a former church and monetary. With the River Wharfe winding around the grounds and ancient woodlands surrounding them, you'll be hard pressed to find a more magical setting. Explore the Abbey estate

Outside of the Priory is the stunning estate and grounds. There are a number of woodlands and riverside paths to explore with your family, along with places to stop along the way for refreshments. In Strid Wood you'll find a rocky gorge with a river flowing through it, while further on is the medieval hunting lodge Barden Tower.

Grab a bite to eat at renowned restaurants and cafes

The village of Bolton Abbey may be small but it's filled to the brim with excellent places to eat.
