Discover the Yorkshire charm of Grassington

Nestled in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, around ten miles north of Skipton, the village of Grassington is picture-postcard perfect with its cobbled streets, independent shops, pubs, cafes and beautiful setting on the river Wharfe. Wander the cobbled streets to take in the atmosphere, or you might be lucky enough to visit during one of Grassington's well-loved festivals - the village becomes a music and art extravaganza over two weeks in June with the likes of Jools Holland and Bananarama having appeared here. There's a Dickensian festival in December and a new 1940s weekend in September too. Head to the National Park Centre to help guide you round the area's highlights, and from here you can walk to the lovely Linton Falls.

Enjoying the Yorkshire Dales

On the doorstep is some of England's loveliest scenery. For something spectacular below ground, head to Stump Cross Caverns, or for more amazing natural landscape gaze awestruck at the natural ravine at Gordale Scar and Malham Cove. Bolton Abbey isn't far away and has 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside to explore, plus 80 miles of footpaths.

Medieval life at Skipton Castle

The town of Skipton is just over 15 minutes' drive and well worth the trip, with an award-winning high street, indoor market, and, at its heart, the impressive Skipton Castle.
