Fun by the sea Near Redcar Racecourse

Redcar Racecourse is just a short walk from the seaside resort of Redcar on the North Yorkshire coast. Enjoy a stroll along the beach with stunning North Sea views, or try your luck at Playland amusement arcade. Golfers should head north to Cleveland for its highly regarded course. Zetland Lifeboat Museum is home to the oldest existing lifeboat in the world, built in 1802, as well as local history exhibits and artworks over two fascinating floors.

Tour the North York Moors National Park

Less than half an hour by car from Redcar Racecourse is North York Moors National Park, over 1,400 square kilometres of tranquil moorland. Head for the cliffs in the park's eastern extremes, for stunning views of the North and for the charming seaside resort of Whitby. To the south west and south east, you can find 300 square kilometres of lush woodland. Or strap on your walking boots and ascened Urra Moor, the highest moor in the park, where you can see fascinatng prehistoric remains.

Discover Durham

Redcar is only 45 minutes from the historic city of Durham, whose Norman-era castle and cathedral combine to form a UNESCO World Heritage Site that draws visitors from around the globe. To the south of the city, Durham Heritage Coast offers fine walks amid some of north east England's best seaside scenery.
