A little venue that punches above its weight

Victoria Park may only have a sub-8,000 capacity, and its team, Hartlepool United, a perpetual League side, but the atmosphere contained within these stands belies its - and its team's - small stature. Perhaps its historical pedigree (it opened its gates in 1886) has something to do with this, but largely it's down to the fervent fans.

Explore the area's seafaring history

Within walking distance of the stadium is the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool, as well as the HMS Trincomalee - a preserved tall-masted frigate which is open to tours. Nearby Seaton Tower Lighthouse is also worth a walk, as is Hartlepool Arena.

Take in Hartlepool's sights and sounds

Hartlepool has much to offer visitors, although it is often overlooked in favour of Nearby Newcastle. However the nightlife in Hartlepool is consistently excellent, with Cotton Club and Fever in the town centre both particular favourites with locals, while the daytime destinations - including Hartlepool Art Gallery - are not to be missed.

Looking for accommodation Near Victoria Park? Travelodge Hartlepool Marina Hotel puts you within walking distance of the stadium, and also well placed for the town itself. Travelodge Sedgefield Hotel and Travelodge Middlesbrough Hotel are both convenient stop-offs for travellers.
