Raise a glass to Towcester

Towcester lays claim to being the oldest town in Northamptonshire, dating back to the Stone Age. And it will certainly appeal to history buffs. Once a coaching route along the ancient Roman road of Watling Street, it's flourished into a vibrant market town with boutiques, tea rooms and pubs now occupying some of its historic buildings. It's only a 15-minute drive from the larger towns of Northampton and Milton Keynes.

Watch thrilling sports action

Set in attractive parklands, Towcester Racecourse is one of the country's most scenic places to watch national hunt racing. It also holds greyhound racing two nights a week, and in 2017 became the new home of the prestigious Greyhound Derby. Also Nearby is Silverstone. Fans of hi-octane action can take a pilgrimage to the home of British motor racing, whether you've got tickets for F1, rallycross or superbikes, or even going for a spin round the track yourself.

Sample ale at Towcester Mill Brewery

Real ale connoisseurs can see how the perfect pint is crafted on a tour of the brewery, housed in a traditional mill in the town centre. Choose from a selection of cask ales and other beverages served in the tap room. You can even take your drink out into the lovely beer garden (weather permitting of course). Looking for accommodation in Towcester? Travelodge Towcester Silverstone is on the fringes of the town, close to the race circuit, while Travelodge Northampton Wootton is also Nearby.
