Relax in Perry Hall Park on a visit to Perry Barr

Perry Barr is conveniently located to the north of Birmingham city centre, just off the M6 motorway.

One of its main highlights is Perry Hall Park, situated on the former site of an Elizabethan mansion. Wander among the ornamental gardens, wildflower meadows and sensory garden, or look out across the River Tame, which divides the park. If you want to get active on your visit, you can take part in the parkrun, a free 5km jog held every Saturday.

Watch the action unfurl at the Alexander Stadium or Villa Park

Perry Barr is a great base for sports fans as it's close to a string of venues. The Alexander Stadium hosts top athletics events, including the UK trials and AAA Championships, while the greyhound stadium has dog racing every Saturday night.

Football fans are also close to the action at Villa Park and The Hawthorns.

Admire the splendour of Aston Hall

If you're looking for grand days out, look no further than Aston Hall, a magnificent Jacobean redbrick mansion set in beautiful parkland. Don't miss the hole in the staircase made by a cannonball - a stark reminder of the brutality of the English Civil War. After a tour of the house, go for a meander around Lady Holte's Garden, where everything is sculpted in perfect symmetry.
