You'll be banging on about Bingley

Nestled on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, this small town just north of Bradford has a rich industrial past, known for its textile mills, railway and the Leeds-Liverpool canal. It's also famous for being the home of Sir Fred Hoyle, the eminent British astronomer who first coined the phrase Big Bang theory.

Look for fairies at the St Ives Estate

This sprawling free country park is less than a mile from Bingley town centre, and a wonderful place to relax with your family or enjoy a romantic amble. Explore the woodlands on a sculpture trail, cross the magical Fairy Bridge, feed the ducks or have a go at archery. Energetic youngsters can swing across a rope bridge and play in the sand.

Discover stunning Saltaire

Surrounded by glorious countryside, this purpose-built Victorian village is a must-see World Heritage Site. Admire the spectacular architecture as you wander round, and don't miss the collection of works by David Hockney on display at Salts Mill. While there, be sure to have a ride on the Shipley Glen Tramway, which takes you through woodland to the top of a steep path where you'll find local beauty spot Shipley Glen.
