Thrilling steeplechase racing at Wetherby Racecourse

Wetherby Racecourse is in West Yorkshire Near the market town of Wetherby, around half an hour north of vibrant Leeds. The course holds 20 race fixtures a year and for many years only hosted jump racing, but since 2015 flat races have been contested there too. Open for other events including a weekly market and car boot sale for much of the year, plus a renowned antiques fair, a visit to the racecourse also offers great access to the surrounding areas with Leeds, York and Harrogate all around half an hour's drive away.

What to do and see in Leeds

Leeds is an easy drive away and has lots for everyone including great shopping, food and nightlife. One of its best-loved attractions is the Royal Armouries Museum which is home to the national collection of arms and armour and free to enter. For great shopping head to the Corn Exchange with its spectacular interior, or for upmarket labels seek out the elegant Victoria Quarter. Catch a play at the highly regarded West Yorkshire Playhouse and come nightfall head to Call Lane which has some great bars and music spots.

Anyone for tea? York and Harrogate

York and Harrogate are both lovely to visit. Have a cup of tea at Betty's Cafe Tea Rooms which has branches in both places.
