Had a great night out or event in Bristol, slept beautifully in one of our Travelodge Bristol hotels and now looking for a great place to try a hearty local breakfast? The city is teaming with delicious options for a slap-up meal, so here are some of our favourites:

1. Source: The perfect poached egg

You haven’t experienced Bristol’s foodie scene unless you’ve visited Source. As well as the bustling cafe there’s also a sizeable food hall where you can pick up fresh ingredients straight from the producers themselves. The menu changes seasonally and it’s generally thought that breakfast time is when the restaurant is at its finest. Opt for a full English in traditional or vegetarian, or simply go for the legendary poached eggs.

2. The Bristolian: Classic fry-ups at a local favourite

The cosy Bristolian is a gem of a local cafe that uses only free-range produce to create their famous breakfasts. Bonus: breakfast is served until a luxurious 3pm. The coffee here is a work of art and there are plenty of offerings for vegans and vegetarians too. Feel like you could eat a horse? Order the Bristolian Challenge for one of the largest plates of food available anywhere in the city. The traditional fry-up is crisply delicious too.

3. Bakers and Co.: Something a little different

Easy to find on fashionable Gloucester Road, Bakers and Co. specialise in offering unusual combinations and offerings that taste divine. Try smashed avocado on sourdough bread or get your fill of comfort food with a delicious cinnamon-and-caramel sticky bun.

Everything is made on site using top-quality ingredients for a fresh and fulfilling meal. The restaurant itself is bright and breezy, so take your time and soak up the atmosphere with a long, leisurely brunch. Stay at our Travelodge Bristol Central to be just a short walk away.

4. Mockingbird Café: Southern style charm

Feel like kicking back and relaxing with a bit of blues? How about doing that with a sweet peach tea and buttermilk biscuits (more like a pancake than a British biscuit)? The Mockingbird Café is inspired by the American South and has a really homely, chilled-out atmosphere. Be warned though: they close at 2pm on Sundays.

5. The Farm Café: Rustic and delicious

Enjoy a little West Country charm at the adorable Farm Café in Clifton Village. There are plenty of loose-leaf teas and great coffees to choose from here, whilst the menu offers everything from scrambled eggs to pancakes and bacon. The Farm Café also offer lighter options for those with a smaller appetite. Best of all, their breakfast is served all day long.
