Both simple and rejuvenating, walking’s a great way to keep in shape and take in some of Britain’s best scenery. It’s our recommended way to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Some of the best scenery on these isles can be found in South West Wales, with the unspoiled Gower Peninsula boasting great natural beauty and a wealth of excellent walking routes.

So dust off those hiking boots (or get down to town and buy a pair), as you won’t want to miss the opportunity to get a little healthier and happier with these breathtaking expeditions.

1. Beginner – Langland Bay to Caswell Bay

A lovely little one to two-hour walk around some of the Gower Peninsula’s coastal delights.Coming in at just over two miles, the journey from Langland Bay to Caswell Bay is a pleasant fresh-air excursion. This route’s perfect for those who want to get out and see the delights of South West Wales without straying far from the shops and amenities of the local seaside towns.

Just 20 minutes by car or bus from Langland Bay, our Swansea Travelodge is the perfect base for tired feet after a morning or afternoon’s walking. And you’ll have the delights of the city all in easy reach.

With a 4.5-mile round trip coming in at just around 2.5 hours, the Whitford Point Walk is one for experienced and beginner walkers alike. The route is easy to appreciate, with its nice mix of views and challenging terrain. Llanmadoc provides the ideal starting point thanks to the parking options, allowing you to head off on foot to take in the sights of the northern peninsula’s bays. Wildlife and the Victorian lighthouse await intrepid explorers ready to take on the little-discovered area, which is one of the Gower Peninsula’s hidden delights.

Our Llanelli Travelodge is the perfect stop-off point if you want to take in the sights without the worry of a lengthy journey home. If you make a day of your walk, join us for a great spot of evening food and entertainment.

3. Expert – Rhosilli & Worm’s Head

A little on the tricky side this one, making it ‘expert’ for a reason. But the wild sights and atmosphere of the western tip of the Gower Peninsula make this walk a rewarding one for those brave enough to take it on.

Starting from Rhosilli village car park, head towards the coast before taking on the rocky crossing to Worm’s Head. The opening is only available for around 2.5 hours a day, so checking tide times is a must. However, local coastguards are always on hand to assist.

Get booking our Swansea Travelodge or Llanelli Central if you want to make a weekend of it, with both hotels around 40 minutes to an hour away from the remote, but beautiful Peninsula vista.
