The Easter Bank Holiday is almost upon us and while you may be tempted to stay in and gorge on chocolate eggs, we have a few suggestions for making the most of your extended break.
Easter egg hunt with a difference
Don’t follow the crowd this Easter in a search for something sweet, go on a scavenger hunt with BucketRace in London. Compete alone or as part of a team, with the aim of completing as many tasks as possible and gaining the most points. The challenges can be anything from hailing a black cab, posing by a red telephone box or making a leaning tower of pizza, to something more seasonal. Points of course mean prizes and the first team to the finish line will be rewarded with a Cadbury World ticket each.
Check out the Underbelly Festival, Southbank
Comedy, cabaret or even something from the circus – it’s all here to see at London Southbank’s Underbelly Festival. Forget about stuffing your face with treats, grab a few mates and go and discover something new and unique this Bank Holiday. See some amazing street magic from TV’s talented Magic Bones, have a laugh with comic appearances from Mark Watson, Stephen K Amos and Matt Forde and marvel at the gravity-defying acrobatics of ‘ A Simple Space’.
Admire the birds at Warwick Castle
Fancy watching a whole host of feathered fun? Then take the family off on a Falconer’s Quest at Warwick Castle. Watch in amazement as a variety of birds take to the skies in the UK’s biggest bird of prey show. Keep your eyes to the sky as a fascinating flock demonstrate their power in a dynamic display of aerial acrobatics. From Eddie the bald eagle and Katie the red kite to the impressive Andean condor Rosie, there’s so much to discover, as well as taking a tour around the castle and its grounds.
Treat yourself to an indulgent dessert
You don’t have to fill up on chocolate to have an eggcellent Easter – why not indulge in a treat of a different kind? Located in Soho, Camden and Shoreditch and named as the best ice cream parlour in England by The Times, Chin Chin ice cream parlours serve up amazing, mouth-watering ice creams and desserts that are almost too pretty to eat. Tuck into a delicious deep dish cherry pie, or a more traditional cookie ice cream sandwich made with vanilla ice cream between two brownie cookies and topped with a generous helping of salted caramel.
