Holiday hacks for 2018

Thinking of 2018 getaways? Here’s 4 tips to save time and/or money and squeeze the most from your precious time off.

1.Work your holidays around Bank Holidays and get more

You can make your holiday allowance stretch further by carefully planning your leave around Bank Holidays. Make the most of the Easter holidays with the family by taking a whole 16 days off work whilst actually only booking eight annual leave days! By booking off the week commencing the 26th March, you won’t return to work until 9th April due to the Easter long weekend.

Fancy a mega break over the festive period? Book just three days holiday and you’ll enjoy a whopping 11 days of festive fun by selecting 24th, 27th and 28th December.

2. Save by starting the weekend early or ending it late

You know that feeling when you go out on a Friday and the weekend somehow seems longer? Well now there’s another reason to getaway on a Friday. Hotel room prices are typically 27% less than Saturday nights and 31% less in London.

If you can take the Monday off, Sundays are also a good day to book your hotel accommodation as rates are overall 40% less and 44% less in London. For example you can get a Sunday night stay in central London in April from as little as £49.(as at 05/12/2017)

3.Get your ‘bleisure’ on

More business travellers than ever before are blending business with leisure travel. Save money and make the most of a business trip away by adding on a one night leisure stay at the beginning or end. According to Travel Weekly’s 2016 Consumer Trends report, the percentage of leisure trips that have a business component jumped to 17% from 14% in 2015.
