5 tips to start every day in a Super way

We all know that feeling. You wake up late, rush to get ready, sip a strong coffee, skip breakfast, and leave feeling stressed. Whilst this is a common way for many of us to start the day, it certainly isn’t the best. Those first few moments in the morning set the tone for the rest of your day. Do yourself a favour and follow our tips to make sure you wake up on the right side of bed, and start every day in a Super way.

1) Get prepared the night before

If you know you’re not a morning person, then get prepared the night before. Lay out your clothes, find your car keys and pack your bag all before you go to bed. Come the morning, you won’t even have to think about what you’re doing, and you can avoid yourself an awful lot of daily stress. What’s more, now that you’re not faffing around in the morning, you can have an extra 5-minutes in bed!

2) Use an alarm clock, not your phone

Set your wake up call using a good old-fashioned alarm clock, rather than your mobile. Looking at your phone first thing in the morning, it’s easy to get sucked into the vortex of notifications and messages that is so common in the social media age. Give yourself some much needed me time in the morning. Change your routine so you don’t look at your phone until you’re dressed, fed and ready for the day.

3) Wake up gradually

Since we’re talking about alarm clocks, it’s worth mentioning that an abrupt wake-up can leave you feeling groggy and foul-tempered. It’s best to try and wake up gradually. These days you can buy alarm clocks that mimic the sunrise and gradually fill your room with light before your alarm goes off. This creates a more natural style of waking, and will leave you feeling better rested and happier for the day ahead. Super!

4) Have a cold shower

It may sound like a punishment, but it’s actually closer to medicine. The benefits from exposure to cold water have been known since Roman times, and lots of research is being done to find out exactly what those benefits are. By showering for just 30 seconds under cold water, you’ll decrease muscle inflammation, feel more energised, and be less susceptible to illnesses like colds. Have your warm shower first whilst your getting washed, then whack it down to cold for the last 30 seconds to get that super feeling.
