2nd December 2005

Today, Manchester Airport Travelodge made history as part of Travelodges UK record of opening eight new hotels throughout the country in one day. The hotel was officially opened by Jim Bethell, MD, Manchester Airport Developments.

The 201-bedroom hotel represents an £8 million investment and has created 65 new jobs within the region. It is the second largest Travelodge hotel outside of London and is situated at the airport.

Room rates will start from £26 per night and you only pay for the room not the number of people staying. There is a choice of rooms including family, double and disabled. Each room offers a comfortable setting with en-suite bathroom, luxury king size bed, colour TV with pay on demand movies, telephone and Internet services and free tea and coffee making facilities.

Manchester Airport Travelodge has a Bar-Café, which offers a range of meals and refreshments throughout the day and evening. (Breakfast, evening meals, snacks 24-hours a day and bar service until 1.00am). An onsite car-park is available to guests.

Mark Walton, Manchester Airport Travelodge Manager said: "We have received fantastic feedback on our airport hotel, as there is huge demand for onsite budget accommodation. With rooms from £26, it makes sense to stay over and get a good night sleep before catching your early morning flight and getting to the airport on time."

Jim Bethell, MD, Manchester Airport Developments, said: "The opening of the Travelodge hotel is great news for passengers catching early morning flights. Located a matter of minutes from all three terminals, staying over the night before your flight is a much easier option than battling the rush-hour."

Bury Travelodge at Route 66 Leisure Park, Pilsworth Road was also officially opened today as part of Travelodge's UK record. It is the first low-cost hotel to open in the area. The 54-bedroom hotel represents a £2 million investment and has created 15 new jobs within the region.

The other six Travelodge hotels that opened today were located at: London City Airport, Aberdeen Airport, Nottingham City Centre, Norwich City Centre, St Austell and Pembroke Dock, which results in a total investment of £22 million, 792 new rooms and a creation of 180 jobs.
