Travelodge, one of the UK’s largest hotel brands today announces it has taken a lease to operate the Holiday Inn Express hotel at Liverpool John Lennon Airport from Peel Land and Property Group.

The hotel now trades as Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport. It has 100 rooms, a Bar Café, three meeting rooms and on-site car-parking. The hotel is situated minutes away from the airport and the New Mersey Speke Shopping Park. It is the company’s 549th hotel and its 14thproperty in Merseyside.

Peel Land and Property Group was the owner and operator of the Holiday Inn Express under a franchise agreement and it has now granted a 25-year lease to Travelodge and is also investing to convert the hotel into Travelodge’s new contemporary brand design.

This new investment includes upgrading all 100 rooms with the next generation of the company’s signature contemporary room design which has been designed by customers, replacing all beds with the bespoke, luxurious king-size Travelodge Dreamer bed and adding individual single beds into family rooms for children, as well as adding new bedside USB charging points, a Samsung 32 inch digital television and new softer LED ceiling lighting, giving the room a warmer and cosy feel.

The hotel’s restaurant is also receiving a make-over and a modern Travelodge Bar Café is being installed which will offer the company’s new unlimited breakfast, dinner and drinks menu.

This refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of this year and the hotel will operate as normal during these works. Rooms are available from £29 at www.travelodge.co.uk

Travelodge Liverpool John Lennon Airport is being managed by Stacey Coleclough and her team of 20.  Stacy joined Travelodge in 2009 as a receptionist and is a prime example of hundreds of Travelodge staff members who joined the company at an entry level position and have successfully climbed the career ladder. Stacy has previously managed the Cheshire Oaks, Chester Central, Liverpool Central and Halkin Travelodge hotels.

Tony O Brien, Travelodge Property Director, said: “We are delighted to have secured our fourteenth hotel in Merseyside at the prestigious location, Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The local economy is growing at pace and with increasing visitor numbers to the area, there is a big shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price. With our new airport hotel, we are offering unbeatable value at all the key business and leisure points across the city.”

Following a £2 million investment in upgrading the customer experience and raising quality levels across all Merseyside Travelodge hotels, the company has seen a significant rise in sales; interestingly, with more business customers staying at Travelodge than ever before.
