Wolsingham - gateway to Weardale

Barnard Castle - get to know Barney

Under 14 miles away, close to the market town that shares its name, Barnard Castle is in a spectacular setting, high up on a rock above the River Tees. They both take their name from the 12th century founder of the castle, Bernard de Balliol. The castle boasts stunning views, and a sensory garden of scented plants, and the market town, nicknamed 'Barney', has lots of shops and pubs to enjoy.
