The Peak District village that lays claim to a legend

The small but attractive village of Hathersage, 10 miles south west of Sheffield, might seem unassuming at first glance. But the local church contains what is accepted to be the grave of Robin Hood's companion Little John (Nearby Loxley lays claim to Robin himself). Many local landmarks are associated with the Hood legend in this quaint community on the borders of the Peaks.

Take a dip in the outdoor pool

Hathersage boasts an excellent open-air swimming pool - heated, of course, so the weather needn't get in the way. It's open all year round, although be warned, they turn the heating off during winter for those wanting a bracing New Year's Day swim.

Explore the stunning Peaks

The Peak District is renowned as a prime destination for those who enjoy the great outdoors, and there are no end of hiking and biking trails to explore yourself. But why not take to the tracks in unconventional style? Peak Llamas is based just down the road in Great Hucklow, and offer unforgettable llama trekking days. Planning a trip to Hathersage? Travelodge Sheffield Central Hotel and Travelodge Chesterfield Hotel are both just 30-minute drives away to the east.
