A bright new future for Dundee Train Station
Dundee Train Station is a major stop on the East Coast Main Line, with services thundering down the country to London from here, stopping at Edinburgh and York along the way. There are also services going all the way to Plymouth and Penzance, having originated in Aberdeen. Dundee Train Station building has been partly demolished and is set to reopen as a five storey curved structure in 2018 as part of the multi-million pound Dundee Waterfront project.
One of Dundee’s premier attractions is the fascinating Discovery Point, where you can find out all about Scott and Shackleton’s trip to Antarctica and step on board the ship Discovery herself. Verdant Mill is another interesting local museum which tells you all about the city’s jute industry, or if you prefer a bracing walk head up Dundee Law. You can catch a show at Caird Hall and don’t miss a visit to the Desperate Dan statue on the High Street, a homage to local publishers DC Thomson. Kids will love a visit to Camperdown Wildlife Centre which has lots of animals to look at plus a café and shop.
