Enjoy a historic day at the races

One of the oldest venues for horse racing in Britain is, perhaps surprisingly, to be found in Brighton. Public races have been held in this location since as long ago as 1783, and at locations very close-by since approximately 1700. Today, Brighton Racecourse is one of the nation's smaller courses, however the three-day Brighton Festival every August is always a popular draw for crowds.

Take a stroll along the seafront

Brighton Racecourse is surprisingly close to the heart of the town - and indeed the famous pier. But this is just one of many must-see features that the town has to offer along its legendary beach. The seafront itself makes for a wonderful walk, while the world's oldest remaining aquarium, Sea Life Brighton, is a great diversion for kids.

Make the most of Brighton

There's plenty of culture to be found in Brighton, with The Royal Pavilion and the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery both excellent venues. The Theatre Royal - one of the oldest theatres in the country - regularly hosts musicals, plays, operas and ballets. It's the nightlife which really puts the town on the map, however.

Looking for a cheap hotel Near Brighton Racecourse? Travelodge Brighton Seafront Hotel is hard to beat for views, although Travelodge Brighton Hotel is closer to the races. Travelodge Hickstead Hotel, a 30-minute drive north, might suit travellers from further afield.
