Bexleyheath's Broadway Shopping Centre

Previously known as The Mall Broadway, the Broadway Shopping Centre in Bexleyheath, south-east London, was originally opened in 1981 and underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2007. It contains almost 60 stores, many of then instantly recognisable names, as well as several smaller, freestanding kiosks.

A blast from the past at Danson House

A short trip from The Mall Broadway lies Danson House in Welling, an impressive Georgian mansion in a Palladian villa style. It's now a Grade I listed building designed by architect Sir Robert Taylor, who also worked on the Bank of England, and is open to the public on selected days. It was also used as a filming location for Tom Hardy's period drama Taboo.

Decorate the Morris way at Red House

Another property of interest, this one in the heart of Bexleyheath, is Red House, a significant Arts & Crafts centre and the former home of designer William Morris. He worked closely with the architect, Philip Webb, on its construction, but lived there for only five years until 1865. Nevertheless, it contains many of his stylish flourishes and is now open to the public.
