Fashionable Haggerston

Would you Adam and Eve it? Not only is Haggerston part of London's fashionable Shoreditch district, it's also part of the capital's famous East End. It was once a tired-looking, rundown place, but during the past few decades has undergone a period of redevelopment; its housing estates were refurbished and several disused public buildings were transformed into gated communities. It's now hugely popular with students and artists.

Sample the delights of Columbia Road

No visit to Haggerston and its surrounding areas would be complete without a trip to Columbia Road. During the week, it's a vibrant area with enthralling independent shops, but on Sundays it really comes alive courtesy of its famous flower market. The best bargains can be found around 2pm, about an hour before the tradespeople pack up and go home.
