Harrow Weald takes you higher

Harrow Weald may be overshadowed by the likes of Harrow on the Hill and the famous public school that shares their names, but it has much to recommend it, including the ancient woodland that covers more of the northern part of the town. It's also one of the highest points in Greater London. These woods eventually merge with those at Bentley Priory, whose grounds are a nature reserve and an site of special scientific interest. Also in the town is the former home of WS Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan fame; the duo's light operas are often performed there.

Soaring away at the Royal Air Force Museum

A short journey from Harrow Weald is the Royal Air Force Museum at what was once the Hendon Aerodrome. It comprises of five exhibition halls and is home to various examples of historic aircraft, including a Lancaster bomber and a Spitfire.

Euston, where culture and history go hand in hand

It's possible to travel into central London via the Nearby Harrow & Wealdstone Station, which offers overground and underground services. Those travelling overground into Euston Station are then only a stone's throw from such cultural delights as the British Museum, British Library and the Grant Museum of Zoology. The latter is one of London's hidden gems, packed full of enthralling exhibits that are enough to make even the Natural History Museum green with envy.
