Sail off to sunny Cowes

While we can't promise good weather, this bustling seaport town on the Isle of Wight is the perfect place to spend a sunny day while you're on the island. Situated at the estuary of the River Medina, Cowes is renowned for its sailing and water activities. Every year during Cowes Week, the town is transformed into a colourful regatta - the oldest and biggest sailing event in the world.

Retrace royal footsteps

Cowes is home to Osborne House, the seaside home of Queen Victoria. It's one of the island's most popular attractions, partly because of the beautiful views looking out from the house. As Victoria herself said, 'it is impossible to imagine a prettier spot'. Tour the house for a fascinating insight into the life of the famous royal, including her bedroom and nursery rooms. Don't forget to visit the Walled Gardens, a stunning example of Victorian garden design.

Visit Cowes' famous high street

Fancy a spot of retail therapy? West Cowes' high street is popular with shoppers and browsers alike for its range of quirky independent shops. From fashion boutiques to antique stores crammed with treasures, you're bound to find something to treat yourself. Looking for accommodation in Cowes? Our Travelodge Newport Isle of Wight hotel is ideally situated at the heart of the island, while Travelodge Ryde Isle of Wight is less than half an hour from East Cowes.
