The Broad Colney Lakes Nature Reserve provides a peaceful refuge for wildlife and visitors. Made up of three very different lakes, its 26 acres support a variety of land and water birds.

Spend a day at Willows Activity Farm. Providing a fun-packed programme whatever the weather, there's loads to keep the kids entertained - from pig-racing and lamb-bottle feeding to fun fair rides, inflatables and undercover play areas. For something more educational, pop along to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum, the oldest aviation museum in the UK dedicated to the preservation and display of de Havilland aircraft; a working museum, you'll see volunteers actively restoring old aircraft on site.

London Colney is just three miles from St Albans with its Roman relics, medieval architecture and the oldest pub in the UK. Here you'll find fantastic shopping, a popular Charter Market dating back over 1000 years, and the 100-acre Verulamium Park, built on top of the remains of the old Roman city.
